His practice covers all aspects of enforcing intellectual property rights (including well-known and unconventional marks) with a distinct focus on national and cross-border litigation.
Before founding boesling IP, Thies worked for a large international law firm in Munich and in different roles in German IP boutiques. His track-record includes litigating numerous high-profile cases before the German and EU courts, developing and implementing strategies against counterfeiting and parallel imports, managing private investigations against intellectual property infringement, portfolio management (including trademark clearance, filing, opposition and cancellation proceedings) as well as drafting and negotiating IP licensing and transfer agreements.
Thies is a regular speaker at international conferences on legislative developments and emerging IP law trends. He publishes extensively on IP issues in German and international handbooks and periodicals. Inter alia, Thies is a co-author of the widely recognized commentary of Gordian Hasselblatt (Ed.) on the European Union Trademark Regulation.
